What Lights Do Commercial Growers Use?

Serving clients worldwide

When setting up a commercial grow room, it’s important to strike a balance between efficiency and output. That’s why most advanced commercial growers use full spectrum LED lights, which promote vibrant plant growth while significantly reducing operation costs. Though they can be more expensive to install initially, LED grow lights offer serious long-term benefits that will maximize the performance of a commercial grow facility.

Full Spectrum of Light

While the sun naturally gives off a full spectrum of light, artificial lighting doesn’t always produce high amounts of the specific wavelengths that plants need for photosynthesis. To encourage healthy plant development, many commercial growers choose full spectrum LED systems that deliver ample amounts of red, blue, and green light.

With ESTtech lights, growers will enjoy a full range of wavelengths measuring between 280 and 800 nm for lower blues and higher reds. Users can also adjust individual fixtures to manipulate the plant life cycle. This will allow you to simulate regular wake and sleep cycles on a daily basis, while being able to control other aspects of the lifecycle such as flowering or seeding. Full spectrum control LED grow lights offer an unprecedented level of control over every aspect of your plants, which will increase health and output.

Increased Temperature Control

Other artificial lighting solutions, such as traditional incandescent bulbs or high pressure sodium vapor (HPS) lights, will produce heat as they function. Not only does that make it more challenging to manage the temperature of your space for optimal plant growth, but it increases utility bills because you will need additional cooling systems to combat the warmth. Meanwhile, LED lights give off little to no heat, which makes it easy and inexpensive to maintain ideal temperatures in your grow facility.

Reduced Operating Costs

LED lights are one of the most energy efficient options on the market. According to the Department of Energy, LED bulbs use around 75% less energy than other forms of artificial light. This will make your commercial grow space more environmentally friendly and save you a significant amount of money on utilities each month.

Additionally, LED grow lights have a lifespan of around 54,000 hours – or over 6 years of continuous use. While most other lighting solutions need to be replaced annually, LEDs will last much longer. Between the labor associated with maintenance and the replacements themselves, this longer lifespan can also help cut down your bills.
